In a recent court hearing regarding the shooting incident on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express that occurred in July 2023, an eyewitness recounted a chilling moment. The witness stated that after the incident, a member of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) remarked, 'This is revenge for 2008.' The eyewitness described seeing a bearded man covered in blood while an RPF officer stood nearby with a rifle.
The accused, former RPF constable Chetan Singh Chaudhary, is alleged to have shot and killed his senior colleague, Assistant Sub-Inspector Tika Ram Meena, along with three passengers on July 31, 2023, near Palghar station in Maharashtra.
Chaudhary was apprehended shortly after the incident. The eyewitness, who is an officer in the GST department, was traveling in the S-6 coach of the same train. He testified before Additional Sessions Judge Y.B. Pathan at the Dindoshi Court, explaining that he was returning to Mumbai from a vacation. The witness expressed his fear upon witnessing the horrific scene and attempted to move to the other side of the compartment when he overheard the RPF officer's statement referencing the 2008 attacks. According to the prosecution, this remark was linked to the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, during which ten Pakistani terrorists killed 166 people over 60 hours. The prosecution claims that Chaudhary made several communal statements while committing the murders aboard the moving train.
